A Post to You, My Audience

It’s a brand new year, and 2017 finds Some Kinda Good in its sixth year of inception. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for reading my posts and to share with you what this blog is all about. 

As most blogs do, Some Kinda Good has evolved over the past five years, and thankfully, as the blog has grown, so has my audience. To my faithful followers, and those new to this bandwagon, I appreciate every comment and “Like” you leave here, and every single social media nod in my direction. Hitting that publish button is always an exciting moment, but your feedback is where the real fun begins.


Always written from a Southern standpoint, and positioned along the Southern seacoast, this is the place I share my home cooked recipes, like my Wild Georgia Shrimp & Corn Chowder or my Farmers’ Market Summer Bruschetta, and tell you about restaurants I’ve visited worth writing home about! More than that, I’m a storyteller, and I enjoy sharing about all my food-related adventures, whether it’s a volunteer experience, a television appearance, or a family tradition. At the end of the day, I hope you’re entertained by my escapades!

One thing you’ll notice about my restaurant reviews is this: If they’re not Some Kinda Good, they’re not featured here. My goal has always been to bring positive attention and awareness to chefs and restaurants with amazing food, great service and atmosphere. I don’t spend my time writing about restaurants where I’ve had a negative experience. My philosophy about that goes right along with the age old saying, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” The restaurants I review also are almost always locally owned and operated featuring the people, food and culture indigenous to a place. A good example is the Whistle Stop Cafe in Juliet, Georgia or Lee’s Restaurant in Statesboro, Georgia.  I review restaurants on my own free will, unless I am invited to do so, in which case, I will always let you know. I am not paid to promote these places; it is a hobby which I find fulfilling.

I describe myself as a food enthusiast (more on that here), and like to cook and eat as locally and seasonally as possible. I was born and raised in the great state of Georgia and I believe in supporting local farmers. I’ve long said, when you cook with quality ingredients, they are hard to mess up.

So, if there’s anything you’d like to see featured here, a restaurant you’re curious about, a recipe or idea for a recipe you’d like to try, a new cocktail, do let me know! On that same token, I love hearing about what you’ve cooked or eaten lately that had an impact. Having a two-way conversation is what blogging is all about, and I welcome the chance to get to know you better.
